Had a problem yesterday of the car hunting badly at idle, so bad that it would stall. Engine temp at about 95degrees on a 28degree day after a heavy hwy hill climb whilst towing our camper.
Can anyone tell me if I can clean the AFM on my 1994 landcruiser 80 series?
Car has 230,000kms on the clock.
Was thinking about using some CRC MAF Sensor Cleaner but dont want to screw up the AFM!

AFM Cleaning (1fz-fe 80 Series)

I would avoid using carbie cleaner on the throttle body or idle speed controller as it attacks some rubber and plastics. Use WD40 instead and its also sensor safeRV80 wrote:I just sprayed some CRC Contact Cleaner in mine, that was a few months ago and it's still going. Also clean the throttle body out with some carbie cleaner and a tooth brush.

Have used CRC MAF sensor cleaner and it started after the clean
The idle prob is weird and only very occasional, couldnt find any cracks in the intake or any other leaks. I did find a Hiclone in the intake and have taken that out, more to see if it has an effect on the running (and economy) of the motor.
Will keep an eye on it and see how it goes.
