EFI injectors
Are there any injectors of a different make that will fit a 3.5 efi manifold, is there a bosch that can be used ? What injectors do Disco's use, lucas or bosch ?
Saddle up tonto, its the not so loanrangie! . 98 TDI DISCO lightly modded with more to come.
I have seen modded injectors off a disco 4L from memory it squirts 4 fine jets rather than one big jet giving better combusted cos more air obviously. Not sure on lucas or bosch or other though
Rohan Canavan on this board might be able to help you out a bit more cos it was on his car it was fitted to. If not call him at Midas Lilydale
Cheers

Yes the VN V8 and V6 injectors are exactly the same injector, make sure they're series 2 with the yellow plastic caps. The falcon injectors are dirt cheap at the moment, you should be able to get some for around $50 each brand new. They flow exactly the same as the Commodore ones, but are the pintle style, which are easier to clean, which is an advantage on dual fuel applications.
holden injectors
But wont holden injectors flow too much for a 3.5 ? I can get v6 injectors cheap but dont know about the flow rate.
thanks.
thanks.

All the Commodore injectors from Commodore VN-VT are basically identical. Originally they said that they could not be interchanged because there were flow rate differences, but the differences were because of there testing method, not because the injectors were different. Same with the Falcon injectors EA-AU 6cyl they are all interchangeable with the each other, and the commodore ones. The 901's are the one to stay away from.
Injector flow rates (As from Bosch EMC)

so are the holden injectors an improvement for my 4L ? I would rather economy over performance, I need my 4L injectors cleaned and if I can pick up a new set for a good price I might replace them with the holden parts, any recommendations ? Where to get the holden parts ? Are secondhand ones out of VRs / VTs etc any chop or will they need cleaning soon as well ?
Thanks
Tom
Thanks

the injectors on the 4L motor ie thor are a shorter injector than the holden injectors.on the holden injector you need to watch the fuel pressure as this also changes the flow rate and spray pattern
up to vs pressure is 280-320 kpa
vt on 270-350 kpa 3.8 motor
vt 5.7 chev 350-450 kpa (50psi)(these injectors run at 12.5 volts)
standard range rover up to the thor manifold run at 230-262 kpa (32psi)
it depends on your fuel management computer 3.5 -3.9
air flow meter can also make the car run ritch or lean
another way to overcome fuel running lean is to run a rissing pressure reg
thanks rohan

3.8 injectors
Well if commo V6 injectors can be used then i can get them from the wreckers for $8 each- bargain.

EFI INJECTORS
Don't forget that all these figures that have been thrown around here are actually the maximum figures and not necessarily the working pressure or flow rate of these injectors. And changeing injectors will not rectify faults with items like coolant temp.sensors, air temp. sensors,MAP sensors,MAT sensors, air flow meters or Air Mass meters. And most of the EFI injectors made since DJetronic have used the same/similar wiring plug configuration which is just one terminal being + and the other being earth.

yeah the only problems i currently have (as far as I can tell) are a buggered vacuum advance and a set of injectors that need cleaning soon, I was going to skip the cleaning and replace them if the holden units were comparable.
I have heard that having the injectors cleaned was up to $400, i would be removing them myself and re-fitting so that should keep the cost down a bit, but if I could put a whole set of holden injectors in for even $20 each
that would interest me, and I would retain the old ones and perhaps have them cleaned or tested at a later time
What do you think ?

The $400 price tag would only be to R&R injectors and clean, replacing seals.Pintle caps and filter baskets.Even then it is still very steep !!!
Most places charge around $30 per injector to clean injectors if they are off the vehicle. And there is an abundence of mobile guys around who will come to you for that price as well.

Thanks for the FYI
I would be happy to flow theses injectors for you for just the freight costs and the seal kit cost(approx $20) for all 8 if the book listing is correct , as no one we know has an exact flow figure on them, If they require cleaning I will clean them for $120 for the set including the seals.

Thanks for the offer I really appreciate it, I will PM you with some details thanks, as far as the Vacuum Advance diaphram goes wouldn't I need a special tool to separate the housing and then crimp then crimp it back together or is there a trick I don't know about ?
Thanks again
Tom

Just an update I call these blokes who were very helpful,
their price on an exchange unit for my 91 RR was $66inc plus a
$30 deposit which was refunded when I send the old one back,
express posted for $8 and they include a post back with the return
address on it in the box so I can send the old unit back.
Good to deal with
Thanks 77Rangie

Just bringin this back from the depths as I am looking at Putting a set of Bosch VR Clubsort 5L injectors in my 3.5Efi
Once I have these what else do i need to look out for, or is it a matter of removing the fuel rail and unplugin the originals swaping and plugin back in the 5L ones and put everything back together ? ? ?
