Leaking steering box in 97 disco

Post by luv4bee'n »

Is it difficult to rebuild a steering box? Its a v8
Is the info on how to do it available in the workshop manual from the local library, is anyone aware? I've spent a lot of $s on this car and want to save some on this job if i can.
Any input appreciated

It CAN be done.... But most people who attempt to do it at home end up going for a reco box changeover. Problem is that half the bits inside are probably flogged out......

Was actually looking this up yesterday, as I've got movement in a part of my reco steering box that I'm sure shouldn't really move, and came across a PDF file of the procedure. It was for a classic Rangie, but should be the same....

On page 45 begins the overhaul procedure...
84 Rangie, 3 inch spring lift, 2 inch body, Megasquirted 4.6, R380, rear Maxi, 34x11.5 JT2s. Simex FM installed.
