ive got a rubber grommet left of the hazard switch and above the cigarette lighter on my hj47. So whatever it was, it was either an extra or redundant by the time they made mine.

Just stick your head under the dash and see what the cable/wiring goes to.

i've got 2 cruisers, 82 and 84, both are blank in that spot, and the next one to the right of it on both are hazards, but is written, not just a dot, could be a random that a previous owners added.

cigerette socket?

The only pull switches i have on my dash are:

hazards (pull on, push off)
blower fan speed (twist 3 stage)
A/C (twist)
Wipers (pull)

heres my dash on an 1984 BJ42.
