Pulling out a GU transfer

Hey guys just wanted to know whats involved pulling the transfer case out. doesnt look like there is much to it but i thought i would ask for some advise from anyone who has done it before attempting myself...

disconnect tailshafts, handbrake cable, shifter linkage, wiring, crossmember (after supporting the gearbox), swag of 14mm bolts holding transfer to box.
Slip the transfer back about 40mm till its free of the shaft.

If its a 2.8 it will leak oil from the gearbox so you would need to drain this first. Even with it drained a bit of oil comes out as its trapped in the housing.

You might want a jack to support it and lower it down with as its a little awkward and a bit weighty (for me anyway)

I got mine out by removing front seats and carpet then took the gearsticks cover off. Put the engine crane inside the car and made a sling out of a tie down strap. Really easy to do - you can have the transfer out in less than an hour without any guggling of jacks on the floor.

Yes - but if you make the sling long it swings out nicely.
