If you change seats, you need to get them engineered. Paratus seats used to come with pre-engineered mounts, I hear they dont anymore.

i also tore one of the mounts out of the floor trying to "persuade" my seat to sit rite so gess ill have to get that welded up too. Sounds like a job for the fabie.

I have looked into this as the seats in my GU are crap !
The SA authorities told me that as long as the seats/vehicle did not contain side curtain airbags I could fit whatever seats I liked, no engineering - nothing !

Not sure if all states take this position though ?

cheers

I went down to the local blue plate guy here he said as long as the new brackets are at least as strong as the standard ones no engineering is required but u cant just wear a harness u have to wear a seat belt on the road. but you can wear it over a harness.

Good luck with the alignment. I have replaced the drivers seat in my GQ with a Recaro on a Bostrum Suspension base, and its a total nightmare - the seat can only go in one position relative to the width, because the recaro is wider than the standard seat, and this doesn't align with the center of the steering wheel.

The floor isn't level at the mounting points, so I have packers insterted at the moment to trim it up, and aligning the front and rear holes puts it on the piss, so out in 3 planes - should be a simple task - obviously not!

Anyway, a bit more time and material and it will get sorted, but not terribly comfortable to drive. Its pretty close now, but surprising how a small misalignment can make such a big effect to the seating position.

I've made brackets up for my ute and wagon to fit Recaros and a SAAS seat.

Not terribly easy and you'll need a welder and a bit of patience. But it can be done and anything is better than a standard GQ seat.....
