08 Hilux front tow/snatch point

Post by minus162 »

08 Hilux with a Genuine Toyota Bull Bar (steel). I have searched and searched for a place to mount a hook on the chasis (at the front) as a suitable snatch point.

I even took it to back to Toyota today and asked them. They looked at it, and were unable to tell me. They did suggest I go and talk to one of the 4wd specialt retailers just up the road, which I did, and they looked at it and said it would be a custom jobby.

All I want is a safe and effective front snatch point. Anyone else solved this problem?

I am unwilling to rely on the tie down points which are just two loops of steel welded on.

Thanks in advance

Cheers MG

I ended up making my own when I had an ARB front bar on out of 100mm thick steel plate.

But your best option is to buy the recovery point from All terrain 4x4, it allows you to use a shackle as a recovery and is 10mm thick and rated to 8 tonne.

dont use the K&N recovery hook, they have been known to bend when recovery at an angle other than straight ahead.
