I'm interested in doing an 80 series chassis swap for my hilux, and was wondering how much extra weight it would add on? I want everything other than gbox tcase and engine for one.
Ie does anyone know if a 3rz will power a hilux on an 80 series chassis as well as or close to as well as it does on a hilux chassis?

80 series chassis weight?
Moderators: toaddog, Elmo, DUDELUX
Big question is why??
I think the 80s chassis would be considerably heavier and bulkier. There would be a lot of work changing body mounts etc to suit the lux body.
It will probably end up being under powered. and the spring rates will be all wrong due to the differences in the weight distibution in the body of the lux vs the 80.
If you want the coil sprung suspension and 80s diffs, why not do a conversion using 80s diffs? like this one
