Load Carry and Flex?

Post by S.CoXy »

I am doing a IFS rear and RUF set up in my YN67 hilux tray and was wonder if any one has done a set that allows them to carry weight ( a Motobike, 100 ltr esky, tools and other camping gear) out to a camp site then change it to flex when the load is of ( campsite is reached and set up ). Idea i am currently toying with as follows
1. air bags load assist - best i can find is 7" travel one
2. pump up air shocks
3. 2nd set of easy to remove hard shocks
any other ideas, comments, setups would be great.

We've used another set of air shocks before. A bit of a pain. I found a set of coils between the diff and chasi bump stop to be the go. Just flex it up to pop them in and out.

Don't confuse shock absorbers and springs.

Some air shocks, like Fox etc, are used to suspend the vehicle.

Most shock absorbers are for dampening and have no bearing on the ability of your vehicle to suspend the weight, just how fast the springs move up and down. It will still sag on it's arse, just move slower "stiffer" with "hard" or adjustable shocks.

I would be looking at an adjustable air bag, or added coil spring. Air bags can restrict travel and the coils could be a pain in the arse to add and remove regularly.
