just trying to decide on which snokel to put on a gu cab chassis any info/advice/price you paid would be appreciated

airtec and nissan are the same thing with a different sticker and a different colour hose clamp.
i got one at mates rates but just ring up nissan and tjm for prices.

btw... if you fit it yourself you need two big holesaws which are very expensive
cost as much as getting it fitted by someone else.

Either or all, I would only do one thing before you buy. Ask the dealer what he can get. I did this on my hilux through a yota dealer who would/could supply either Safari or airtech. Nissan might be able to do the same. If they do (I doubt they would because they offer there own nissan badged airtech) ask if there have been any problems with either. Mainly talking harmonics after fitting etc. The yota bloke I talked to was very helpful with this as he said he would reccomend Airtech for soem yota's and Safari for others just going by the after fit problems with some brands to different body shapes. For instance the 3.0D Hilux 98-2000 had a drama with the Safari but was fine with Airtech.

I have a safari on a GU and have had no probs, Shane has an Airtech and I assume no probs so either would be fine pers preference and money is going to be the decider.

Get it fitted by a shop who does them all the time if you arent confident in doing it yourself as if the fitting goes wrong and the snorkel isn't on correctly you could end up with strange harmonics that will annoy the piss outta ya.

I know the above may be looking into it too deep but being fore warned is fore armed, you should'nt have any drama's with either/all

No problems the Only thing that is louder is you can hear the Turbo Spool up through it, and if you turn the head around it lots louder. If your sitting on the passenger side its a lot more obvious. But the MT's are heaps louder than the snorkel anyway.

I can't comment on performance as I had a lift and 285/75's MTRs , Winch, Drawers, all fitted at the same time so really the extra wieght and tyre size made it more slugish but a DTRONIC fixed that.

I can say on my normally aspirated 3.0 D Hilux there was a difference in fuel usage and midrange performance but I would doubt it would effect a turbo diesel. The benifit of keeping the donk outta the water and the dust is benifit enough alone.

The choke point I believe on the 3.0TDI (actually all diesel GU's) is the airfilter it is very small and would prolly benifit a little from a larger housing but there is not much room in there.

stick with plain colors, white or grey.. they dont show the marks as much as red or blue.... I'd love the dark green but robin had one as a lender when his 4.8 blew up with 900klms on the clock, and he scratched the shit out of it!

I run a Safari on my GU coil cab. Just a warning . . . I found that I had to redo where the factory airbox connects to the ducting that fits between the inner and outer panels. I found that when I had the bonnet fully submerged, that there was enough pressure from the suction through the snorkel to suck water in the standard joints. I cut the standard joint out and now have a piece of hose with a couple of hose clamps to complete the join and it seems to work heaps better.
