I dont mind it. Have you thought of putting some sort of driving light in the checkerplate part?
I'm usually not a big fan of the 'cheesy bar' but this one looks alright, i like how the winch has been intigrated as well.

Why are you after an opinion? is it for sale, or did you build it? did you see it and want to copy it?

I don't like treadplate on cars myself, I think it looks messy, but that's just me. As for design, it looks OK, but bear in mind that eye bolts generally have quite a low working load limit, probably less than the winch, and fitting them through tube would involve some tricky crush sleeve work to allow sufficient tension on the nuts (along with adequate nut seating surface)

None of this is as important as how it's mounted though. Assuming the factory bumper brackets have been removed for tyre clearance, there i no way the front of a sierra chassis is strong enough to support winching without reinforcement- the holes on the chassis ends aren't up to it.

That's the key to winch mounting on a sierra.

put a pipe in the front cross member then bolt through it with crush tube in to the winch bar as well that will give some more strength but even then probly not enough ps get some hooks as the eye bolts are a wast of time i had them on my bar on my coily and the come loose all the time.

yep the bar would look MILES better without the checkerplate.

As for the eyes - i have 2 on the front of my bar, through my chassis with crush tube and theyve been spot on. I find hooks, while faster to attach to, tend to slip off etc on occasion. Personal preference really.

I'd point out though - the eye bolts on mine are rated at 6tonne each, theyre BIG and HEAVY. Yours appear to be skinnier than what i have on mine.

I built the bar, and just wanted to know what people think of it.
The mounting is through the rails with crush tubes in the chassis, the end of the chassis has been capped off, plus a longer arm that goes back along the outside of the chassis, also the eyelets are SWL 3.8 tonnes.

don't like the chequer plate and it seems to sit quite low as well offering little protection. Do you have any side profile shots

looks also it may block a little light output as well from the bottom of the reflectors.

The bottom of the winch cradle is level with the bottom of the chassis rails, so that the winch pulls true to the chassis. dont have a side shot but will take some more on thursday when he brings it back down for the cage to extend around the bonnet. ( not sure what we are going to do there, any drawings, ideas welcome.)
