hilux sliders
hey guys and gals im sorta new to the 4x4 thing and just wondering about hilux sliders and the way they are mounted. some pictures wouldnt do astray. thanks
Normally, the best way to mount sliders to any vehicle, is to make a clamp type setup that goes around the chassis rail, like a U shape, then have bolts that hold it all together above the chassis rail, easy to make, and they shouldnt get hung up if done right.
Depending on body lift, you just have to angle the tube upwards so it still protects the sill.
Have a look through Boofluxes build up, go from page 1, hes got alot of pics of his sliders getting done. Otherwise, do a search on hilux sliders.
Hope this helps.

These aren't for a hilux but the actual process won't be too much different, make up your clamps for the chassis and bolt them in place, cut the tube to length that will run under your sills and position it with chassis stands, then its just a case of cutting tube to length to join the two up. this is how I did mine but others might have suggestions for better ways of going about it.
haha it does make it sound pretty easy when you read it, but this was my first attempt at sliders and after initially having no idea to start it came together pretty quickly once I had the brackets bolted on the chassis and tube sitting where I wanted it under the sills There are probably areas people could point out where the design could have been better or something done differently but I'm pretty happy with how they turned out.
