I know several threads exist regarding leaf springs but here's another for the 4x4 gurus. Putting extra leafs into the set will give more lift but how does it affect ride and performance on and off-road. I suspect it will make it more pitchy and alot firmer, maybe too firm?
Also, a head-ups for Brisbanites looking for a set of custom F-300 leaf springs which are I think 4 or 5 leafs thick. This set for sale at the daihatsu wrecker for $150 the pair and won't last.

Who told you that mate If you remove springs from a leaf pack you will lose lift (not much though) but adding it won't do the reverse
Taking leaves out will put extra load on the remaining leaves, making them sit flatter = lower. If you replace those leaves they will sit more arched again but only up to their natural arch which is determined when they are set, when they are made.
Adding leaves willy nilly will make the rear ride VERY rough/ hard and take away any flex you actually had. You will be able to load it up though
I assume you want lift primarily, you need to buy lifted springs
That stands to reason . I was tempted to buy a set that had been custom made to give lift in the rear from the wrecker (at least double amount of leafs, heavy duty). I suspected they would improve cosmetics but not ride and handling which your comments confirm.
I shall let you know how the series 2000 works out as I have had the leaf kit and shocks on order for what seems like ages but will pick up in a few days.
Does anyone know what sort of life you could expect from shocks? I've had Peddars gas ryder shocks for about 3years/40000 km and they are still seem pretty good even under hard conditions. I've decided to go the series 2000 shocks since I'm replacing the rear leafs and I'm getting a bargin on them that I cannot refuse.
Cheers
