what are the pros and cons of converting an 80 series to part time 4wd also what should it cost

Google it westy, there is hours worth of reading. Short story - it's great to eliminate drive-line clunking, especially in pre-95 80's, and also lets you put an auto locker in the front diff. Don't fit it and expect an increase in fuel economy though. You can buy the kit for $500-$550 and fit it in your driveway.

Hi there westy I put the part time kit in my GXl last year eliminated 95% of driveline lash the constant 4x4 had and i dont get the slight torque steer it had,mine's a petrol and I thought the fuel economy was a little better than before by about 1.5lt to 100km so definately worth the $500 odd dollars plus the fitting to have it done hope this helps.
