1982 Range Rover classic 4 door Towing capacity

Hi All
I have searched but cannot find.

I have a 1982 Range Rover classic 4 door 4x4 and I am wondering what the towing capacity is. Also the kerb weight?

I have been told and read that it is 3500KG towing braked for mine.

But some of the newer ones are 3500Kg braked too so I am just making sure this is correct for the older ones too as I need to tow a large enclosed car trailer with the works. (heavy)

P.S. Everything is upgraded on the rangie. (Sorry, but I think only the shell remains Range Rover lol... oh and transfer case)

Of more concern is that the towbar weight for a Hayman Reece reciver hitch is 120KG. My towbar is a joint D1 RR bar.

There is another heavier towbar for old RRCs , and this has an additional brace that goes across the chassis about 400-500MM in front of the tie down eyes. this has a higher download but I do not know what it is.

You cannot fit the HD one with a Long range tank.

In prctical terms I reckon the download that my HR bar could take is many hundreds of KG but what HR lists is what is legal.

Well they have changed something look here, but I suspect the 250Kg one is the humungous one.

Ill have a look at the towbar.

Someone else (member on here) has said towing capacity of my rangie is 4000kg..

Im not sure but he normally know his stuff but I still wonder.

I really dont want to have to resort to buying a dual cab F250 etc.

I have too many cars and I cant afford such an expensive rig like F250, especially after everything that is done to my rangie:
Wheels, suspension/body lift, 308 Holden ( just converting now to LS1 Chev motor I bought as I went thru some water and busted a piston with the 308.... :( silly)....., gearbox, cooling, cage, etc etc.. and not to mention I just love the old beast!

I have 3 owners hand books here 1 that came with my 78 2 door, 1 from a 86 4 door and 1 from my 91 4 door they all list simular towing weights:

86 and 91 book says
Trailers without brakes 750kg (1650lb)
trailers with overrun brakes 3500kg (7700lb)
4 wheel trailers with continuous or semi-continuous brakes ie coupled brakes 4000kg (8800lb)

78 2 door book only lists 2 weights
Off-road trailer 1000kg (2205lb)
Road trailer with power brakes 4000kg (8818lb)

My 91 has a Hayman Reece towbar and on its data plate its rated to 4000kg

But be aware the designed tow ball weight is either 120kgs or 150kgs - not a lot. Even if the tow bar has a higher rating the car does not.
