Hey Guys,

Looking at the possibility of a bellhousing
to mate a hilux diesel 4speed box to a 253 V8.

Would this adaptor fix my 22R 5 speed box??
What other motors could I fit to this other than the 253,
or is the 253 the way to go for reliabilty?
Alot of people put 253's in luxes so they must be ok?

Or should I just stick with the 7M-GE conversion?
I am having alot of problems finding a manual 7M or even
someone who is willing to separate a gearbox from a 5M manual.

Cheers,
Bart

The addapter for the 4spd is different to the 5spd one. I can get my hands on a 5spd bellhousing to suit a 253 if you need one.
253s are very reliable but are no powerhouse.
An early holden 5ltr(Aussie Pattern) motor will also bolt to this bellhousing.
Most people use the253 because they can be bought with warrenty for as little as $300complete from wreckers.

I have no advise for the 7M swap as i have not seen one done at all. However Suprasurf from NZ swears by them.

i am looking at doing a 7m-gte conversion in my lux soon, and yes it is dificult to find a manual bell housing. suprasurf did mention in another post that he was lookin into making adapters to go from 3l diesel bellhousing to m series motor.
also keep an eye out on www.toymods.org.au in the for sale forum, never know ya luck.
