Outer Limits 4x4 Board

Just got new thick wall one peice rear tail for my 94 d/cab hilux.I have noticed some photos on the internet some people are running them back to front(the slip yolk at the diff end.Is this just to gain a little better ground clearance near the diff?If so no problem running this way as a daily.

not sure what others are doing but, mine has the slip yolk at the top side...

But i was worried about damaging the spline... but can imagine the other way would be better with water so water does not sit inside the spline.

alot of guys are runing them back to front so they dont fill the shaft
up with mud water and the rest of it i run myn back to front but i am runing rhs rear shaft because i got sick of replacing round ones

I wouldn't run the slip joint at the diff end, it would get damaged to easy. As long as you keep grease in the slip joint it will keep the water and mud out. I got sick of bending them so I made mine with 65nb x 8mm wall.

Hey Dan my 1 piece shaft is 4.5mm thick, they said that if they go any thicker they can'y balance it right for road use.Is your shaft round or square
and is it any good on the road.

myn is square but i do not use my truck on the road but yet saying that i have had it up 2 140clicks down binnies rd and no vib or anything

Its tube, just turned the ends to suit and straightened it in the lathe, didn't balance it at all, but it is off road only, but in saying that I have had it at 100k's and its fine.


Can't see why they can't balance it though if you went bigger

I'm running 6.5mm wall thickness seamless pipe. Being seamless i should be pretty well balanced. But it is for off road only. I wouldn't run the spline at the diff end. Shit idea.
