Garrett turbo which one boys cant deside
Garrett turbo which one boys cant deside just rebuilding motor building internally to suit. intercooled with gas any thoughts
<Brian Oconnor> "2 of the big ones, overnight from Jaaaaa-Pan."
Need more information mate.
- What engine?
- How was it rebuild? Factory internals? Forged bottom end? Any flow improvements to the head? Compression ratio?
- Expected boost pressure and desired power output?
- What usage will the car see?

this badly needs more info because funnily enough 'Garrett turbo' isn't very specific.
When it comes to Garrett I'd definitely suggest something like the Garrett GT5533R.........large frame turbo..........60PSI...........7.4litre big block in a drag car that gets rebuilt every few runs.........sure.
But if it's a TD42, being used for normal everyday driving and you want more go, go the GT2860RS with .64 housing and a flange adaptor sandwich plate.
IT'S CALLED 'SEARCH'

it's funny because I'm pretty sure bogged and I have replied to every one of the dozen or so recent turbo threads and I find myself getting more and more sarcastic every time I repeat myself. I think I'll put a response in word and save to desk top so that I can just copy paste.
By all means if you have a 'specific' question that you can't get answered by search, ask away but enormously broad threads like this are not really constructive in their nature.
If you have a specific power figure, particular driving use or a set budget and want a specific answer that you weren't able to find then start a new topic I guess or PM someone who seemed to know what they are on about in other threads that you found in search.
And for the sake of regular posters, include some details, at least the important ones, like what vehicle with what engine and what you want to achieve.

Right do appoligise, 4.2td internally ceramic coated pitons bigger cam shaft few ohter modes will up grade pump intercool anything else that needs to be done. Is a social car but we do drive more than average tracks. turbo size main concern dont wont to much lag, has gu turbo now which works well but casing more, wanting bout 150kw or more bout $8grd budget sicnce motor build. oh alsol want to transfer the gas ingection across.
If your paying someone to do all this for you 8 grand might be a bit streched

like everyone is saying adds up i have that in my gu... and the figures are correct...
i doubt you will get it done for 8k...
2.5k turbo and lines adapters
1k manifold
3k pump maybe cheaper.. but cheapest i have seen is 2k
1.5k front mount.. with proper truck clamps not the blue shitty ricer units...
$600 injectors (AG diesel make great ones)
1.5 clutch get a proper chev style clutch (rowan from lilydale did mine and its awesome not much different to 4terrains but never slips..)
1k airbox snorkle setup
500 gauges and what not...
Labour big iff.... could cost 2k or so but i have allowed some labour in the above figures...
I dont think internals matter much i have standard internals still going strong...

I've got a mate in NZ (Rotorua) who does the pumps and his normal price is NZ$2k. He does the pumps for most of the guys over here doing winch comps so you are getting ripped at $3k!

But if interested can give you his direct contact details. And yes that is his truck in the photo's so anyone who seen 4WDTV has seen how it goes!
Also for offroad use, why would you piss around with and external wastegate? The performance increase just doesn't justify the extra complexity when mud and shit are an issue. I'd just fit an internally gated turbo and run boost control but with how quick a deisel turbo spools even that is questionable?

why be so negative. get over uself knowone is forceing u to reply. im runing gt2876r on a six boost manifold. pwr front mount water 2 air (overated) i have a custom intake manifold aswell hardly any lag. goin to c how much power truck makes on the dyno. will be going gt3076 or gt3082 after runing sum test on the dyno after pump goes on next week.
The ratio in size between the comp and turbine in the GT2876r is awesome.
a .86 turbine wheel will lag like hell mate.
The .64 turbine A/R and the .70 Comp A/R of the GT2876r gives very fast spool (on my car i have 2psi at idle) and will continue to pull over 4500rpm
