Frontera ARB OME 2" Lifted
Guys,
as mentioned on a previous thread, I have gone the 2" lift offered by ARB using their Old Man Emu kit. Package cost $990 fitted and comes with a 2 year warranty. 4 x gas shocks, 2 x new heavy duty progressive rear coils, torsion bar adjustment. Vast improvement on ride, handling and clearance. Pics will help others see the result and perhaps help in their choice. I will update this thread with comments as I get the opportunity to test the limits of the suspension.
Cheers,

Dipstick,
ABout the lift. Did you check the travel on the rear shocks. If ARB have the same attitude they had when I got my kit from them, you'll find the shocks have the same travel as the original ones. THerefore after ifting it 2" you'll effectively have 2" less downward travel. Htis caused me considerable difficulty off-raod till I changed them for Rancho 9115s whicih have 2" longer travel.
The tyres are about hte same size as my 31x10.5 if I recall. Will fit but may need to do some mudflat mods. Fuel consumption will increase and driving off-road is smoother but more difficult at slow speed rock hopping. You will find that you have to change down earlier than usual becasue the gearing will be 10 % off. Speedo will be out by 10% depending on whether it was accurate in the first place. Mine was 10% optomistic so it worked out OK. But i run std tyres and the MTR's so I had a problem adjusting my mind every time. I use the VDO electronic ratio box to alter the speedo. Got mine from SGESCO. If you go that way contact me about wiring it up cause it was a long job but should have been easy if I'd known what I know now. Use OUTER LIMITS prominently in the title or I'll miss it in the spam.
Crank the front up to 40mm. ARB probably set it at 30mm up on standard. Makes a huge difference.

Yep that's the next step. 265x70R16 seems to be the obvious way to go. Anyone like to comment on suitability How would that size go for clearance given the lift, and would it effect gearing Photos
A mate runs 33x12.5x15 BFG M/T's on his with the OME 2" lift kit and a 40mm body lift. Tyres always catch on the mudflaps on articulation, so they only lasted 5 minutes before they were pulled off. The next step is to try a set of 32" Mongrels .
Cheers
Mitch
