posting 4 a mate 94 rodeo glow problem- hard to start in morning but disconnect the thermo sensor and it starts. glow plugs are new, sensor is new, glow controller is 2nd hand from wreckers - all did nothing, glow light always stays on 4 only 0.5 of a second and then off. sensor is getting 12v and when disconnected it clicks the relays on and off and solenoids on pump on and off and light stays on 4 longer........ any 1 had any faults in their system similar?
fumduk3,
I am assuming that the 94 is not that much different to the 98 TF. I had a similar problem, took it to an auto electrician who put in a manual momantry contact switch to apply power to the glow plugs and then had the balls to charge me for it.
Turned out that the timer unit that was within the right hand side kick panel within the cabin was suspect. Went to a wrecker, replaced it (and ripped out the electricians shonky fix) and have never had a problem since.
If you can get the wiring diagram for the 94 model, it may have details how to test this timer unit.
There is also a thermostat that detects the head temp. Check out the wiring to this as for all you know, the wire may have fallen off. For the glow plug light to turn on for only half a second indicates that it thinks the temp of the head is fine.
Cheers
