welding a fwd diff

any body hear know how to weld the diff of a front wheel drive car or is it the same as a normal diff once you get inside the gear box

and before people tell me don't do it its for my rock crawler project im going to run 1 of the shafts of to my remote transfer case giving me low and extra low gearing

I don't know personally but when you do it post up a thread with pics and let us know how it goes. I've been interested how to do this as well.

be interesting to see how the axles and CVs take the load... can you not adapt it for an air or auto locker?

Pretty common in trial trucks over here, SR20 engine/gearbox, Lexus to windom gearboxs etc. No remote Transfer cases, RH axle goes to front diff, LH to rear diff. Ratios work out well usually. Have a MR2 gearbox (3SGTE engined) to do in a vitara we are building. Mate has done a GTi engine gearbox in his tube buggy. Will try and find some pics....

i had a CIG locker in my pulsar was making 250kw at the wheels never broke drive shafts or diff but had lots of problems stripping gears!
An ounce of precaution is better than a ton of cure!

thats what i was going to do first but the gearing wil still be a bit hi with the motor and box i have
i also have seen spools and lockers for them but their out of my price range as i dont have a budget to think of

and when i do it i'll take lots of pics
