Which is a stronger transfer case a patrol of hilux? and will a partol fit into a hilux with out cutting the body??

the Nissan GQ/GU is way stronger.
Big 30 spline shafts vs 21/23 spline (so far i know).
If you have both next to each other, you will see what i mean.

but the hilux one is much lighter, why are you killing the hilux one in the first place?

Also strongest factory box is the LT230, the rover transfer.

well, you would hope there would be atleast ONE thing in a rover that will hold together!

it might hold together, but does it hold oil ?

X2 - I don't think hilux cases are especially weak, and the availability of doublers/gears makes it a desirable option IMHO.

Nothing wrong with a GQ case, but how many hilux cases have failed through power/tyres (as opposed to wearing out or getting filled up with water?)

The front output has been known to pop\snap .. especailly when geared down .. but I belive there is a cro-mo verison (just like everything else for that driveline .. there is a tougher version on the aftermarket )

The front output has been known to pop\snap .. especailly when geared down .. but I belive there is a cro-mo verison (just like everything else for that driveline .. there is a tougher version on the aftermarket )

The front output is the last thing to fail after lots of $$ worth of upgrades. They break 21 spline inputs they break the standard outputs in 2 different places. Both can be upgraded. They then break the front output. As far as im aware there is no upgrade available for the front output.

I have seen stock 3y's break rear outputs with the right gearing, traction and big tyres.

Just a n idea, have you considered a Dana 300 ??
As tough as a GQ case (maybe more) and bout the size of a toyo case, + can be clocked, gears available, twin sticked, upgradeable to near Atlas strength, etc.

Purchase price is usually a bit more in Aust. tho as they are not as thick on the ground here + and adaptor may be needed.
