demister options for rego

hey gang, looking at a few options for a front demister for rego, I believe you just need air blowing onto windscreen, found these on fleabay, you reckon either of these would work?

they are designed for computers, and won't push anywhere near the amount of air a normal car fan does.

You'd be better off using something like a hair dryer or heat gun and running ducting across the bottom of the windscreen.

i have seen a hair drier mounted underneath the dash blowing air onto the windscreen through plastic ducts on a beach buggy to make it street legal.

Get your self or look in a Australian hodrod magazine or the CRUIZIN magazin and you'll find what you need for around $88 it just does both side windscreen i use them in my hotrods and do pass roadworthy cause thats what they meant for. I'm away from my magazine for a few week yet otherwise i would get you a number, good luck.

I use 2 12 volt hairdryers.

Readily available from any Marine shop.

I think I paid around $20.00 each.

Theye don't do much but do pass muster!

If you know a dodgy bob inspector then certainly. I've seen worse problems passed.

could you just use one of the old school pivoting fans that people used to sit or clip on the dash ? the rules only state it needs to blow air on the screen .. then you could just remove /unclip it after rego checks etc ..

grabbed the cruzin mag, but can't seem to find anything advertised in there, anyone got any more info on these systems?

what sort of vehicle is it?

i know old 40 dashes and the like dont have demisters. they seem to pass alright.

On most hot rods, we use 12v heater fans. they're acceptable to most engineers and you can attach the ducting.

it's in a 45, but the thing'll prob have to go over the pits rather than just a roadworthy, fibreglass cab swap been done

Check BIAS or Whitworth Marine outlets for 12volt hair dryers.

Work a treat.

i could be wrong but i think aussie desert coolers do a kit for heater demisters and even aircon
