hi just wondering if anyone knows how the cv separates from the axle? ive removed the surclip on the back of the cv is there anything else thats not visible that needs removing or am i just not havin a go?

have you got the knuckle off, or the hub?, look in the toyota bible for a how to on cv changing, it won't seperate from the axle inside the diff, it also will not come out obviously with just the hub gear off.

yea the cvs and axles are out of the diff theres a clip at the back of the cv which i have removed now theres play (back and forth) but wont come all the way off

put the axle into a vice and smack the back of the CV with FBH.

there is a clip just inside the CV that holds it onto the axle, it can take a stack of bashing to get it off.

another method is to slip the axle into a length of steel pipe so the CV stops against the end of the pipe, lift the whole lot up and drop/ram it vertically down onto a block of wood on the floor, the force should make the axle drop into/through the pipe

:P same as i have always done, to the extent i have broken the hidden ring (retainer) and squashed some of the spline with the shits knocking it off... :x

But i could never see another way... :armsup:
