opinions on portable compressors

looking for a portable compressor capable of inflating 36" simex's from low pressures with a decent warranty.

opinions please on brands and prices please!

I've got a portable ARB one in the hard case, does my 285's fine, switches off when I remove it from the tyre, and did 5 cars in a row at easter 2 year warranty I think..

5 mins tops per corner.
so therefore has to be able to run for 20mins continuous

I doubt if anything available under $400 is going to pump up a 36" tyre from 10 - 30+ pounds in 5 mins

Keep in mind your average 240v compressor tank is about 60L. each tyre would be nearer 100l capacity

IF you want fast fill capacity your going to need some type of receiver and preferably Dual compressors like the Vivair ones, gunna cost a lot more than $400

hi mate prob go for a bushranger (viair ) supermax approx $495 runs good airflow at pressure n should do wat you want in the required time. or you can go for the new ARB or the bushranger max air2 these will do the job adequately little bit slower than the supermax n also a little bit cheaper but still good n reliable and this is coming from actual experience with these compressors and tyre sizes in the real world not on a test bed in perfect conditions. ( remember that 99.999999999% of manufacturers measure their airflow a 0 psi not at working psi. if you get on the viair (sp?) website it has all the flows rates at working pressures for the bushranger comps )

I Run a blue tounge and it dose the job fine. Fan cooled and I built an alloy box around it to fit in my draws. if you want more air try the twin version.

A Sanden 508 is the only option that will do that for under $400, and that will involve used parts and booty fab.

It will kick ass when you've finished the job though.

x2 build an endles air unit from an aircon compressor, or buy one already modded with brackets to suit ur engine.

i got a 4h grande from 4h.com. pumps up 4 35s from 20 psi to 35 psi in bout 10 min. cheep 2 bout $300. i got it hard wired in under tray tool box, with hose runnig out. it has pumped up 4 sets of 35s from 20 psi in a row. dunno the duty cylce. i think is a cheep copy of a boss?? hope it helps.

sorry just checked thier site, dont think they sell them any more. but the grande boss is $395 and will do what previously stated easily!! hard wire it and let the good times roll. on full inflated tyres lol

Nope they dont....i tried to buy one a month ago...

I bought 2 150 L/m el-cheapo ones off ebay, cost me $200 for the 2 compressors and $50 for wiring and fittings... I have them hooked up to a water/air seperator and the air lines run 2 to 1 making it 300l/min free flow.

For $250 i can complain and only takes 8 mins to pump up the 35's from 10 psi to 30 (all 4)

I was gonna buy a heaps expensive one, but talked to a few guys on here that have done the same and for the price, if one went in a year/ two i'd be happy (plus there is still one there to use)

Just a idea... works awesome
