DIY injector cleaning for 13bt?
Moderators: toaddog, Elmo, DUDELUX
i believe a lot of the time, if the injectors noticeably need cleaning, then the nibs on them may be to the point they need replacing, and usually need the springs re-tensioned to spec anyway. So just running cleaner through them, or manually pulling them to bits wont show a whole lot unless you have a manual pump spray bed with an injector pressure tester. Hense why injector places can charge a bit for specialist services.

What will you clean them with, how will you test them to make sure they are set to the correct opening pressure?
What is wrong with the vehicle to do this. Generally when the vehicles age the nozzles wear, no amount of cleaning will fix mechanical wear.

With pressure starting at 100 bar +, indirect injectors rarely block up. They usually wear or becoming sticky in operation, thus not atomizing fuel or working at a lower pressure. They generally only get serviced when there are problems. In saying that, they have an effective working life of 100,00km where they work at there most efficient.
The only way to verify is to remove them from the vehicle and test on an injector tester.
Cleaning can be successful if they are still close to there original opening pressures.
