what have people built for their custom aframes ?
i was thinking of using a trailer stub axle and base the joint around that or am i better raiding one out of a rover?

IF you're on a budget, then a Rover A-frame, ball joint and axle mount from a Salisbury axle is cheap. You'll just need to build a mount on the ale for the ball joint mount.

Yes, the A-frame and ball joint are the same, but the Salisbury diff has a little plate that the ball joint plugs in to and will tighten up on. That plate is then easy to bolt onto the axle housing. Its a lot easier to bolt that on than trying to fabricate a tapered hole in a mount like how the Rover axles are done. You can see in the top pic the holes that I've drilled out to take the mount and then the mount in place in the bottom pic.

I then just made a cross member for the A-frame to mount to.

No build thread on that one.

Here are the pics of the coiling of that series. Not too long after the suspension was coiled that chassis was scrapped as I found some rust in it that made it useless.
