what is the whine in my gearbox.
at 55+ in screams like a b**ch.

could it be bearings or a lack of oil?

my nosie like that turned out to be transfer case but id also check the diff. is in a particuler gear of all gears above 55. try it with rear driveshaft disconnected
HZJ73, lifted,crawler gears, double locked, sitting on 35's

lack of oil.. or perhaps a mix of oil and WATER in your gearbox..

Happens..

Mate's hilux had a simliar problem.. he complained bout noise ocmin from diff and was pretty sure it was the uni joints until i checked diff oil... it spurted on me when i unscrewed the cap... apparently it was nearly full of water past the fill line - dodgy breathers... :?
