Rear Locker Up Front ?

Post by Zooked »

Hey guys I'm just getting into Suzi's after driving full size 4wd's for years.... must say i'm already hooked!

I've read so many threads on this forum of the past few weeks so my brain is running a little on overload.....Can you run a rear airlocker in the front diff of a Sierra ? I thought i had read that this can be done it just needs the axles swapped over to the 26spline axle ??

Or am i seriously confused ?

You're halfway there mate....Either swap out the side gears in the rear locker to 22 spline to suit the stock sierra axles and cvs or upgrade to the double tough chromo axles and cvs from the states which run 26 spline axles and will slip straight into a rear locker installed in the front. You need WT diffs to fit the Double Toughs.

We are talking about a leaf sprung Sierra here!

No your not confused, You can run a REAR airlocker in the front diff as long as you use 26 spline front CV axles.
But you CANNOT run a FRONT airlocker in the REAR unless you buy the 6 gear set from ARB that changes star and side gears from 22 spline side gears to 26 Spline side gears.

The 26 spline fronts are aftermarket. They are much much stronger than the factory 22 spline jobs.

22 spline front axle is all suzuki ever made
26 spline front is only made by aftermarket (trail tough in the US is one that springs to mind)
