rear shaft to short after putting in IFS leaves !!HELP!!

Post by 0401blakos »

i have a 95 dual cab lux solid axle and i have just put in a set of 2007 model ifs leaves. Now my rear shaft is just holding together by about 10mm.my first question is:do earlier hilux models have longer shafts?
how do other people go cause i have seen alot of build ups when IFS springs have been used and have never heard anyone mention anything about the rear shaft?i need help asap.

HOW DO I FIX THIS???????????

the centre diff locating pin is further back in the newer model rear springs.
you could use older model ifs rear springs which dont put your diff as far back or use a tailshaft spacer.

Yeah, you've got coil front rears.. Increases the wheelbase about 3".

As mentioned, get your shaft lengthened or get some IFS rears.

I would get IFS rears, way cheaper than a longer shaft, unless you're after the wheelbase.

Another option is to move the front spring hanger forward.

yeah i thought they must have been different cause my mates got a 88 chassis with a 96 cab and he ran ifs leaves with no probs but his leaves were from an earlier model.ive just bought a set of 35" maxxis bighorns and thought they might rub on the back of the cab with the standard length springs.does anyone know if they will cause im tryn to keep it as low as possible and that seems to be the only thing that might get in my way.

Your 35s wont rub on the back of the cab on standard springs. I ran a 40" diameter tyre on my 96 Dual Cab with early IFS rears and no rubbing.
