would an alternator off the 3f engine be able to replace the alternator off a 2h?

No, as there is no vacuum pump on a petrol alternator.

If you need an alternator, shop around as the price can vary heaps. I got a brand new internally regulated unit for 250.00.

What is wrong with yours? I have found that more often than not it is just the brushes that wear out, so new brushes should get you going again, or spend a few extra dollars and do the bearings also.

oh ok thanks mate. it stopped working when i went through some mud haha. but i was just wondering cos i could of got one cheap while im waiting for my auto lecky to get back from holidays to fix mine but thanks for the advice. appreciate it mate.
