LN106 well back trailer on rear chassis cut?

Post by 83zook »

has anyone built a trailer using a dual cab ln106 tub and rear chassis half? say cut just in front of front fuel tank mount where the chassis flattens out? I have both and am wondering if its gunna feasable or just be massivly heavy for a n/a 2.8 hilux to pull around? Plan on building it for a camp trailer but still be practicle.. wanna use standard springs and shocks as they're already there, with a trailer beam axle on 6 stud hubs.. It seams like a such a logical idea e.g. use standard spare wheel carrier, only have to build A frame, run wires, plenty of room underneath for water tanks, heaps of room inside for camping gear.. plan on running a little roof top tent like christover's zook trailer on a checker plate hard lid.
Whats your opinion? or if you git picks of your lux trailer please put up the pic's..
Cheers Mitch

hey dude

a mate was thinking about doing the same thing but in the end decided to make it outta 50x50 RHS for weight reasons. (and i hadnt finished removing the shit from my old chassis)

that being said, if you have the gear there why not use it, saves mucking around more than you have to with the welder, and you will have a shitload of room underneith

I'd sell the tub if i were you, (prefferably to me depending on price and condition) and get yourself an aluminium box trailer. Super light and sweet for general duties.

haha na mate i want it so it suits my dual cab, thats the reason for tub, and i've got a complete rolling ln107 ifs chassis (donor body) with a bent front lh rail so it makes sense to use what i've got instead of dicking about trying to make an entire new frame for it..
Just my opinion, but ill let people try convince me out of it lol
Cheers Mitch
