An old Question... 35s on a GQ
An old Question... 35s on a GQ
I am planning a 4" lift. What extra work will I need to do to fit 35s?
I will probably be running JT2s or MTRs.
Can I get away without a body lift?

You can run 33's without a body lift but you will hit while on travel with 35's unless you extend you bump stops with your suspension lift. The best way is to fit a body lift so you can retain your wheel travel. Body lifts are cheap and easy to install if you are reasonable handy with tools. There is a fully detailed instruction on another topic on this site. Otherwise it's out with the jigsaw!!!!!!
OK thanks, I will check it out... I knew this topic had been done again and again and again...
I notice on a mates GQ that 33s are a pretty tight fit in the rear when fully stuffed. I don't want to work against all of that lovely up-travel by adding longer bump stops. What is the minimum body lift I am looking at for 35s and a 4" lift?
Thanks for your patience and I will go and find this other thread now...
Anyone know of a good writeup on doing a bodylift on a GQ?

Yep they are the 34's but only 10.5 widw and no I don't have any picks at the moment. I share these tyres with a mate who is away at the moment so I will get some for you when he comes back and I can get the tyres back off him. I will be fitting some 35x12.5 Coppers soon to replace my 33's and feel that they won't hit so the wider JT2's should be fine.
35s on a gq
3 years ago, my mate had 35 all terrains on his gq with just a suspension lift (5")
they touched here and there but they did fit. did cranstons road before it was known about too much, unlocked, just the lift and 35's
now there's a track that has changed in 3 years....

You will need at least a 2 inch body lift to run 35s and then trim out the bottom rear lip of the rear guards as they will catch here im running a 4inch lift and 3 1/4 body lift with trimmed rear guards a 5 link front end at max articulation with aposing springs completly compressed i have no rubbing but im also running adjustable panhards and i centerd my diffs dont worry about a 4 inch lift go 6 im still wishing i had
I own a 94' GQ,
and am running 35" MT/Rs on my baby!
I just have a 2" OME suspension lift, and trimmed a bit
from front and rear fenders, and removed the flares.
It looks like great, handles great and feels great!
I will post the pics soon!
So no need to go to 4" or higher lift!
