Got a GMPP loom and controller for this engine. while hooking the loom up i notice there is a single lead for a fan? I wonder if this is to control a thermofan through a realay by using the temp information already processed through the computer or if it hooks straight to the fan itself (I think the former).

Anybody had any experience with this loom before or do you generally run a separate controller for the thermo's ??

This is to go in an 80 series.

Whats inside the box is it a relay box or simply an engine fuse box, if there is no fuelpump/fan relays then you'll need to connect those wires to the trigger of a relay.

If it has relays inside the box named fuelpump and fan then it is the power wire for those components and will be earthed independently of the factory loom.

Hey, Have not had much to do with these looms but it sure looks messy on the engine. But that pretty normal for a chev harness, compared to a holden.

as for the fan wire, if the wire is about 1mm dia it will switch a relay, if its about a 4mm it will drive the fan. If its the 4mm I still would not run 2 fans off it, I normally run a single relay and 5mm feed for each fan.

PCM controls all fan switching. Hook that wire to the relay for the fan. Can adjust with efilive or HPtuners

My harness was nice & neat to the engine
Also you will need to put the harness through from the inside to the engine to fit all the plugs out the hole
By the looks of it you have used a corvette drive kit ?? If so you will need to machine the inside of your P/S pulley to get the fitting onto it also the compressor fitting you will have to get from the USA I got mine from RMS $140 delivered as noone seems to have them here
Just some help if you need it as I just finished my L98 conversion a month ago & its all engineered & Regoed now
Cheers Dan

P/S should be easy, got some fitting from earls that will utilize most of the exhisting plumbing. MUD000, you wouldn't happen to have any images of your conversion you could link me to? Things i'm interested in are:

- the sump
- the exhaust manifolds
- what fuel system? (pump, reg, surge tank, lines)

I have purchased a camaro sump, got bosch 040 pump and a sard variable pressure reg. because the body is lifted 2" i'll take advantage and lift the engine gearbox combo by the same ammount for ground clearance and chassis clearance. (also eliminating the problems of sump contact with the front axle assembly). I have not yet decided on manifolds, i'll probably just go for some off the shelf block hugger type.

As for the messy wiring? thats probably because it's just a plug in test, haven't taken the liberty of tidying it up yet as i'm sure it will be removed again.

Thanks for the confirmation on the signal wire - relays it is? But i do have one question, are the fans generally speed variable? Because if thats so then running them through a straight relay won't benifit from that or am I just getting a bit la de dar?

Cheers, Dave

Hi Dave I used the factory rear sump, factory rear exhast manifold, Custom engine mounts & rear cross member
Was yours a petrol ?? If so you only need to buy the GM fuel regulator I got that from the bloke who did my loom & computer lsxworks on ebay he really knows his stuff
Marks adaptors told me it was impossable to use the factory stuff but iw works with correct engine placement
On you PS have you tried screwing the fittings on ?? as I got mine from enzed & there just wasn't enough clearance
Your more than welcome to come & have a look if you like probably make your conversion nice & smooth I can tell you what to look for
Probably could get my mate to make some engine mounts too

Home with the glandular, so get plenty of time for research ;)

Just spent the last 3 hours going through your build but reckon i need to have a look for myself when i'm better - i'll send you a pm.

Found thee guys in the USA: http://www.kwikperf.com/index.html - iv'e ordered the corvette a/c bracket mount and compressor for good compressed air. Wayne is a great guy to deal with.

I have also been thinking, recently i put the superior super flex arms on! probably means i won't pass a roadworthy with a 2+2 lift and 35"s - no big deal - i'll just swap the arms back and put the sway bar back on for the r/w. I also didn't realise they drive the vehicle for a roadworthy, don't think i like the idea of someone thrashing my new ride!?

I was planning on using the original radiator and fitting thermo's to it? what did the pwr one cost in the end?? Also looks like you had the p/s cooling tube run through the bottom tank?

Thanks for the assistance so far guys.

Cheers, Dave.

I have a VE compressor if you need it I used the corvette one as it sat closer to the block & got the pad fitting from RMS & works a treat with the hoses but I do need to sort out the working of it as when we hook it up I got a leak in the toyota pipe
Your more than elcome to have a look are you using a auto or manual ?? if auto which 1 the 4l60/65E or a 4l80E I used the latter
Still need to get a tune as its lacking abit of power down low I was happy its all engineered with 35's 2inch susp & 2inch body all legal
Just let us know
Cheers Dan

Allready got the compressors, thanks though. I'm keen to find out more about your auto install - maybe we'll discuss that when i meet you. At the moment i was going down the path of using the h150 with the h151 i-shaft (the manual 1fz x 3f) but the auto would be sweet as.

Thanks again for the help,

Cheers, Dave.
