G'day guys im looking at making a snorkel for my TJ. i have done a search on here and cant see any posts for any back yardy snorkels.
Has any one got any reference pics of the air box and hole in the guard? And did you seal the air box and plate the stock intake hole at the front?
My possible hurdle is my winch control box sits on that side against the fire wall and down a little. I have noticed the safari or brand names sit pretty low so maybe it could be ok.
Cheers in advance
Judd
P.S thanks for the help with my tailshaft dilemma i called you about on wednesday Wooders

I think the inlet goes in the fender, under the tray on the right side, so shouldn't affect whatever you have on that plate.
I am looking to do the same, in some big diameter mandrel bent pipe, then flexy hose in the engine bay. I was thinking of cutting down the original inlet, and hoseclamping the flexy pipe onto it, or adding a bulkhead to the box, in the 4".

you could search for a hummer style snorkel that exits through the cowl at the base of the windscreen....it was all the rage a few years ago, still popular in the states is guess.

Have you looked at how the ARB one fits? I can take photos of mine of you want but basically enters quite low on the drivers side so it comes through under that little tray then flexy hose up to the std air box. You cut a new hole in in the airbox to fit a piece of pipe for the flexy hose to connect to. And just silicon/rivet a blanking plate to the original hole (for the trumpet).
The ARB one comes with a windscreen pillar bracket.
The only thing I had to move (2000 TJ) was the little plastic vacuum reservoir for the aircon/heater vent controls which is under that little tray. It now sits on top of the tray
