Always only use new studs bolts and nuts.

Also consider how you are going to connect it to the rest of your system (flanged or weld on)....

use plenty of penetrating fluid on the nuts. not the kind you use on the missus - wd40 or inox.
Use new studs as said, and remember not to overtighten them. They are only done up lightly about 25 foot pound or so. If you tighten them too much they will expand with the heat and snap.
Throw in a new gasket too.
You may break some old studs, so have screw/stud extractors and drill bits on hand incase.
I'll assume you're taking it to an exhaust place to connect it to the rest of the system, or replace it, since you're asking this question. Good way to save some cash as taking off the old junk can be the trickiest part to do.

if ure replaciing the system keep it so the shop can use it as a template makes it much easier for them as they will just hot spanner it off anyway.
