1.6 diffs into v6

Post by Rotazuk »

Hello
Couple of questions , the search answered them partly .

Is a 1.6 vitara 12 bolt rear diff head a straight swap into a 95ish v6 ? or do you have to swap the ring and pinion . Is the complete rear diff the same ? Also will a 10 bolt rear diff head bolt in also ?

I think I have to swap the ring and pinion on the front diff as its a 22 spline diff . The search said this was possible . Would a 26 spline ( later model 1.6 ) front diff bolt straight into a v6 ?

Cheers
Chris

The rears are all interchangeable if you are swapping a complete centre. It doesn't matter if it is 10 or 12 bolt, that is only an issue if you are just swapping the ring and pinion.

To convert from 22 to 26 spline in the front just swap the side gears over.

There is a slight difference (a few mm) in the left hand side inner axle shaft length between various 26 spline equipped models. I can't remember which had what though
