Frontera Clutch update
Accidently deleated some stuff in a topic, so CJ if you could keep us updated with how you go with your fight with Holden and your clutch it would be great...
I have had one new clutch that banged when you fully depressed the cluth pedal as in banged like the clutch yoke hitting bolts on the flywheel.
Clutch faded in the heat the other week. 1/3 travel and came good after it all cooled down. Seems like contaminated fluid just 1000k's after a service.

Well I spoke too soon..... *GGRRRR* The throw out bearing has just died. Grumbling and growling away with my foot on the clutch.
Pulling the gearbox out on saturday to fit a new one... Bloody thing has now only done 51800kms, but is 6 months out of warrentee.... Went to the local dealer and had a winge. They have supplied the parts ($200) but not the labour So it looks like i'll be spending my Saturday off working anyway.
Is this the begining of the end?????

Dazz, while you are oin there can you have a good look at the clutch operation and give me a heads up on how it works please. I still haven't had a satsifactory reply as to why the clutch had that banging noise in it and have only surmised so far based on what a couple of yanks said on 4x4 wire.
I still haven't had the gear box done in mine yet, it is still in the panel shop getting straightened out.

Guys, if anyone is deciding to pull the trans out of a V6 F'terra, well don't cos it isn't one of the most enjoyable tasks i've performed. If on your own, don't!!!!!
Belive me that it is easier to remove the trans from a CAT 773B 50T dumper then from a F'terra
And if anyone splits a rubber fuel line, be prepared to either remove the trans or the intake manifold to replace them. I'd think the V6 Jack (3.5)
and Rodeo (3.2) would be the same....
POS F'terra. Can't wait to get a diesel SOMETHING!!!!!!

Could only think that any banging noise could be the throw out bearing as the fork shouldn't be able to touch the pressure plate. The clutch assembly seems very robust, the T/O bearing looks to be the only weak link and its not a bad thing...
LAtest on the gearbox, Suttons have had the vehicle for a week and stripped the box and have agreed that my diagnosis was correct and are installing bearings and Synchromesh items. They were even kind enough to supply me with a Commodore for a week. I don't think I'll ever buy a Commodore, not enough clearance.
Mind you I also had to cancel my weekend up in the Snowies.
