hey guys i brought a 96 hilux that has a 22r engine with a turbo on it, the motor is now blown and i have been loking into doing a v6 or v8 conversion to it, i was wondering if anyone has done this conversion that wants to give me some input i,
Im temted to go injected 5l with auto box, interested in the pros and cons to both conversions, also conversion kits that you just would reccomend
im new to the 4x4 sport the hilux is a duel cab with some lift and i think 32in tyres thanks

www.marksadaptors.com.au thats the place to start looking for adaptors i got a commy v6 in my hilux and love it cheep on part heaps of grunt goes well with a worked auto gearbox dont have the heating probs like they reckon you get and dont seem to have the bad fuel economy the others get. i reckon the 5 ltr would guzzle fuk loads more

yeah i been looking at the marks kits but if i go the v6 i was heading more towards v6conversions kits.
a few people have told me that the v6 is a good conversion but few are saying the v8 also.
i guess it comes down to what sort of driving il be doing,

I have done both many times now and you are right all depends on what you want out of it.
If you go V6 make sure its an eco tech or above engine much better power and fuel ecomeny. With an auto behind it you will have less breakages but i would upgrade your cv's to longfields
If you go a V8 you have to modify the firewall slightly or move your radiator to the rear of the truck. Power is great fuel ecomeny shit house. But set up right they pop great wheelies.

91 model vp v6 3.8 with t700 auto 4.5 diffs 32 inch tyres
goes great on road deffinetly not holding people up no more spins the 32s pretty well jumps of the lights great no smoke no more except the occasional tyre smoke hills are not a prob ether
offroad is improved seems alot smoother crawls great more control no need to smash the gas peddle through the floor no more auto helps with the gearing
im a landscaper with the deisel in it it was a nightmare loaded up, now though towing the 1.8 ton eexcavator not a prob or a couple ton of sandstone ether way massive improvement and more fun
