Hilux Turbo help!!
hey guys and girls im in the process of putting a turbo on my 3l on my hilux. The turbo is off a 2l hilux engine and i was woundering what other people have done for the oil feed and oil return hoses? pics and help would be muchly appreciated.
cheers kim.
cheers kim.
for the oil return you MUST run a separate return straight to the sump, Don't hook into the return line from the alternator. As for the feed line mine is hooked straight into the block, I don't know if the 3L is the same but my block had a spare oil feed at the back on the drivers side, others have hooked into the alternator feed. But just remember to run a separate return line to the sump
If ignorance is bliss, then why aren't there more happy teenagers?
Turbo glide kits hook up to the return from the alternator....
I have had my kit on same engine for 100,000kms and then removed and put it on a newer 5LE motor, since done another 30,000kms with no problems...
If it was too small i would have thought in 130,000kms the turbo would have issues... but it is running sweet.

Re: Hilux Turbo help!!
you will need to get a 3/4 hose tail braised into the sump, i tried taping into the alternator return and it caused the turbo seals to leak. That was with the ct20 toyota turbo kit. I also used a double banjo bolt and picked up for the the alt pickup, there is a spare pickup on the side of the block that you could also use.

Hey Kim!
I initially used this in the old engine, tee'd alternator feed and drain:
But a couple kays down the road, the oil backed up and laid a sweet smoke screen...
Did this and no problems:

Re: Hilux Turbo help!!
Yah, brazed.
You could always get someone like pirtek or enzed to do it for you.
