hey probally been askeed a bajilion times before but need to know if i can run ifs rears without extended shackles? and is it goin to be worth doing without them?

Yes but you'll have to move the shackle mounts. It's going to less effective than a longer shackle due to the leverage provided by the longer shackle.

I know you gave me some info Yamaha, and I appreciate it, Im wondering; I just bought some extended shackles today, they are 170mm long, if I run them and IFS rears, I know I have to move my shackle hangers, but do I have to get dropped spring hangers as well?? Or is what Ive got at the moment good enough??

A dropped crossmember is used in the front end to give more clearance for histeer and correct pinion angle. (and also gives lift).

So, no. Cut your old mounts off, reposition, tack, test and weld.

youd just move the shackle hangers.
i didnt move mine when i did ifs rear and extended shackles and my shackle angle was perfect.

Think about it dude.. If you moved both, you would be moving the diff position. You only want to move the shackle position.

I just like to double check things so I know what Im in for.
What is the best angle for the shackle??

30 to 45 degrees

honestly with 170 mm shackles you will not have to move mount by much

we use a 200mm shackle that ends up at about 45degrees so get your pad and pencil draw a right angle then from the internal draw a 45 angle now along the 45 degree angle line measure 30mm (length your shackle is shorter than ours) and put a mark now working at right angles etc, find how far you have to move from the corner where all lines originate untill at a right angle to the line you are working off you neet your mark on your 45mm line mark position on the line you are working off

now measure from origin corner to the mark you just put on and that is how far you need to move your shackle hanger towards the rear of your chassis to maintain a 45deg angle on shackle

will prob be close to 20mm
