Does anyone know the maximum operating angle of hilux uni joints?
Are there later model uni's better than the earlier ones?
Need to work out my tailshaft setup for a single uni or double cardan joint.
Cheers
Matt

Re: Hilux uni joints
model does not in any way have an influence on ability to act at angle, its limited by desighn and not how the desighn is used. if you have dual cases go a single shaft in the rear as its a bi^&h for 2 shafts.
front shaft will just be your front one lengthened.
with your rear you do not want to go much more angle than the angle of standard shaft to transfer angle if you are going daily driver as it will vibrate
so if you are making it much steeper go a double cardan for smoothness of operation

Re: Hilux uni joints
Already running a one piece shaft, but since the new diff housing and rear 2" lifted springs went in the vibrations have got worse.
Rotated the spring perches to have transfer and diff pinion parallel, but it is still bad.
Thinking the uni's are at too steep of an angle and need to know there operating angles to set up the correct geometery.
I know a SFA hilux double cardan has an operating angle of 35 degrees and an IFS one is 25 degrees. But don't know about a standard uni joint.
Front shaft is a square job with double cardan cv joint and it vibrates less at the moment.
Thinking i should have gone with a cv style first up

Re: Hilux uni joints
Has anyone used a modified cv cardan joint in the rear tailshaft?
