strange grinding sound coming from the Paj front end

Post by DUDELUX »

Hey all, Mrs D has a late 93 Paj, NH I think, anyway, its developed a strange grinding sound recently, its definately coming from the front end, drivers side, I checked that the wheel bearings are ok, they seem ok(I jacked up the front end and tried wobbling the wheel, felt ok, not great but ok).
I took off the drivers side front wheel and had a look, it sounds like its either the brakes or the wheel bearings, the pads are getting low, but the disc seems fine, when I turn the drivers side front hub it makes the sound.
What are your thoughts experts??
Ive rebuilt the front end on the lux so Im not scared to get in and get dirty.
But the lux is solid axle, so its easy, the IFS on the Paj is alot more difficult looking.
How hard is it to do the wheel bearings??

Wheel bearings in a paj are very easy. Just finished doing mine this arvo as a matter of fact. Once the freewheeling hub is off there is a plate with 4 screws in it that needs to be removed and the bearing adjustment is behind that.

Thanks mate, Ill get a workshop manual for it before I start.
I think however Ill replace front brake pads before I do wheel bearings though. They are starting to get low anyway.
