Hey guys,
For a few months ive been searching around for a nice looking, solid, dependable steel winch bar for my '01 Challenger with coil rear suspension. I had been thinking that SportsRange in WA were the only people out there, but after reading Wixxxers thread on 4wdaction, im looking elsewhere (no offense)
ARB - nope, dont do, thanks for asking, bye
TJM - nope, dont do, try ARB, thanks for asking, bye
ECB - Hmmmm, it might look black, but its still only a powder
coated alloy...
Anyway, ive found a company in Western Sydney that alrady currently make a steel winch compatable bullbar for the MK triton.
Formulaoffroad.com.au
After a bit of talking to Julie about how im after a good quality bar that is SRS/airbag compatable, and how hard it is to find something, we moved on to talking about the engineering requirements and certification costs.
To get to the point, the company is very open to the idea of starting from scratch to fully work up a design for the coil rear challenger, not just cut of a bit here and there to get a triton bar to 'fit'.
Obviously, they are only going to proceed with the challenger bar if they fill they would recoup their investment of the new bar and the SRS/airbag compatability certification costs.
Currently, the 'Type 51' Steel bar for the MK Triton is $1350 (supply only).
The cost of the bar out of WA with freight costs was going to be around $1500 to $1550 (supply only obviously, i'm in Sydney).
Even if the new bar out of Formula Offroad comes in at $1550 supply, i really feel i'd be fitting something that would actually offer the vehicle protection, not just look nice.
The details for the 'Type 51' Bullbar desinged for the Triton are;
*Rubber over rides and indicators standard
*75mm centre tube and 50mm wing tubes over headlights
*4 and 5mm bumper construction in steel or alloy
*light bar and winch access holes
If your seriously interested in getting a steel winch bar for a coil rear Challenger, shoot them an email and let them know how much of a market there is out there. formula@pnc.com.au
