Sierra gearbox help please
Sierra gearbox help please
Are the gearboxes in the 1.3l coil sprung Sierras the same as the 1.3l leaf sprung ones?
Re: Sierra gearbox help please
yes,
Yours will have a number of switch plugs, but all you need is a reverse switch.
Some older ones didnt have all the other switches, My 91' does.

Re: Sierra gearbox help please
No, actually they aren't the same - the gearing is slightly different. A coil garbox will bolt in a *should* have all the same plugs etc as a WT box, but there are some small changes in gearing. (Coilers ran different high and low range gearing in the transfer, along with shorter diff gears. From memory a coil gearbox has a taller 5th to compensate for the shorter diff gears.)
It will bolt in and work fine as a replacement. any gearing differences are minor.
Steve.
