td4.2 missing about 2700

bloke at work has a gq ute non turbo. Starts missing around 2700 in any gear and when in cold weather does it worse and has loss of power.
Temp guage wont move off about a quarter. even up hills etc loaded. Empty she weighs about 3 tonne.

Also if feahtering the throttle down a hill it will start blowing white smoke.

Sort of feels like its starving but thinking along the lines of pump timing.

Atm am using my phone as im between houses so if some one could share a link showing how to check the timing and also the location of the gauze filter in the pump we would be gratefull.

check the little screen on the top of your injector closest to the timing cover there is a banjo bolt take the spring out shine a torch use a bent bit of wire fish it out did mine the other day heaps better performance and no dead spot

Sounds like a leaky injector to me. Best to get them all checked.

Will be either the filter screen in the pump or low transfer pressure inside the pump throwing the timing out.

Does it blow white smoke when it misfires?
