Hello,
I have 3.0petrol LWB paj. Have a snorkel, winch, has a 2inch suspension lift and a 3inch body lift, also the motor has been also raised up to suit body lift. My question is how deep and i go in water??? My guess would be until i dont reach the generator right? or no?
Cheers

As long as the engine can breathe you'll be fine, just make sure your windows are up and your diff breathers are either plugged or extended so they don't suck water in.

The theory is the bottom of the snorkel head, assuming the entire intake is sealed up until that point.
The 'safe' guideline is generally the top of the wheel rim.
Although after any water crossing you should check all oils for contamination, and regrease the driveshafts.

Cheers for the reply fellas. Will today i gave it a go and the water was up to the top of the fenders, only problem i had was there was heaps of sand and that mosity crap and the front tyres sank in the frist time and couldnt go nowhere, Than i put it in diff lock and slowly it came out of the sandy part. On the way home the electronic shock absorder ( soft, medium, hard) switch was showing soft and than hard and it kept on blinking back and forth from soft to hard... after a few hours it stopped. So everything was ok, i think the paj could have gone threw pretty easy if there wasnt heaps of mosity sand
Cheers

my experience with water crossing is to avoid it as much as
possible. While your rig itself will normally be able to survive
up to more than the top wheel rim, eventually after a few
weeks your alternator will show sign of damage. After
damaging 2 alternators in 2 separate occasions, I decided
that crossing deep water is not much fun.

theoretically you can push until the suction nozzle is out of the water... For me you should also make waterproof electrical system... I've seen many times 3.0V6 (generally gasoline powered off road veichles) with electrical problems during or after a ford... Diesel ones are less sensible to water...

Factory figures say 60mm for the petrol and diesel SWB and LWBs, seems a bit inaccurate to me as the LWB has 2 inch taller suspension and the 2.5 Diesels dont have the factory 1.5inch body lift to fit the larger gearbox...sorry this was actually quite a useless post!!

iv had the diesel mj triton and now iv got the petrol and have problems with water crossings that are only half as deep as what i used to go through with the diesel.
something keeps shorting out and blowing fuses
the first time it happened i was only half way across and on my own had to drive it out on the starter motor in 1st gear.
got any advice on how to water proof my wireing???????????
