60 Diff to lux

Post by georgey »

hello,

Im about to help a mate put a 60 diff under he's ifs hilux.

We have currently,
60 series diff(same ratio)with steering arms,dropped front crossmember,rear shackle mounts,shock hoops
is there anything else we should order?

i have put hilux diffs under ifs lux's before but am wondering what else needs to be done to accomodate for the 60series diff?

Spring over mounts i know.

Will a 60 pitman fit on a ifs lux box?

he doesnt want to go hi steer just yet so is it still possible to use the standard 60 series steering arms and linkages with sprung over?

Any other little problems i should know about please let me know.

thankyou

youll run into issues with the spring perch on the rhs it will want to sit right up on the pumpkin. There are a few ways around this.

I dont think the standard steering arms will work spoa.

What are the ways around the spring perch issue?
Would you be able to run a 1/2'' spring perch on the drivers side and say a 2'' perch on the pass side?(or whatever the height difference may be in the perch)

thanks for the reply

thats an option but to better control front spring wrap and overall lift height either notching the perch into the housing or out boarding the springs is a far better option.

talk to buddy, aka bubs, he has done a few including mine. i do not think it will be easy if possable to do lo steer i do not know why you need a drpooed front cross member (i and quite a few others dont have one with no probs) and you do not need bedy shackles without it to clear the body mount either. but the 60 diff is good under the lux but as i said, talk to buddy, he is helpful and full of knowledge you just have to talk enough shit with him to get some of it out of him.

good luck

thanks for that ill shoot him a pm.

could you use standard steering if you left it under sprung?
then later when he can afford hi steer make it spring over.

under srung would be alot easier and the springs that came with the diff have a nice bend in them so im guessing they are 3-4'' lift.
thanks
