Hi
done a search on the net but cant find anything??
I want to build a winch bar kinda like this... http://www.lukeys4x4.com/gallery.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; (the white hilux BAF51W)
Ive been told different stories about the hoop at the front???
Is it legal how it sticks forward? It would come in handy in a roll over!
Also want to make it flow into a exo cage... Are these legal on road???
Cheers
Steve

Re: Bar work legality's??
You can get exos engineered, but there is alot of stuff like tube diameters, how far from the body the tubing is.
From memory, you cal them nudge bars, side steps, and ladder/work racks
Ive seen a few rigs done with exos that are engineered and regoed. Evans blue Bundy is engineered for all the barwork, exo and 37s. Theres also a few luxes I know of that are engineered for exo.
As for front bars, they can get done as well, but from what Ive read, the thing about front barwork is that it has to be designed in a way so if you do hit a pedestrian, the barwork has to throw the person up and onto the bonnet insteas of throwing them under the car.
Speak to an engineer that knows a bit about 4wds.

Re: Bar work legality's??
Hey steve, not sure about the forward angled loop, though I see your point. I think however that they would frown upon it. On the exo however, I think it would be safe to assume that it would be legal if you classed it as "ladder racks". There's plenty of brickie's and chippie's trucks driving around with a full cage like like rack. Talk to an inspector at an authorised inspection station, or even better get onto the Queensland Transport's modification officer in Brisbane. Straight from the horse's mouth then.
Don't take life too seriously...it isn't permanent.
