The artical I just read was aussie and said $40k.
unfortunately its ifs and doesnt offer much tribute in looks to the fj40 we all love.
Apparte from the name i dont see what 40 series about it at all. obviously it has to be a modern car to sell in a modern market but... meh - maybe im just not youthful anymore!

In the US they sell them to compete with the Wrangler and they are similarly priced. They are also placed in the Toyota lineup there under the Kluger price-wise so if they place them in the same marker being under the Kluger to compete with the Wrangler for the youth market they should be around $40k. Much cheaper than a Prado for the same driveline
they should make the real landcruiser. not that fake a$$ stuff there trying to spin. i reckon if the did what mexico did with the toyota bandierante. they would sell more of them then they would sell 200 series. Just my opinion but
My hj47-80series build

When i spoke to my local yota dealer, he laughed when i said 40-55 thou........more like 70 grand for a base model and circa 110 for a fully kitted out one (twin lockers, all bar work, winch, suspension upgrade ect)
I then went to another 2 dealers and they said the same thing.......

Can't see why there after upto $70K for it.....the base model on the toyota.com website is only $25K.
With the aussie dollar being so strong you would think it wouldn't be that far off the US price's. Given the Dodge Nitro's and similar SUV's are only priced around $40K. What make the FJ cruiser so special????
Frankly, I would rather see the new 2011 fifth generation 4runner released in Australia.

Cars are always dearer here, they must think that because the economy is better, then we can afford it. I would of thought i's be around the 55K mark. New toyotas are pretty overpriced imo.
Current model 4Runner would be awesome, oh and throw in the tundra as well.

All cars are cheap in the US, 911's cost between 75 and 100k. We just pay more because where a small market and are restricted in what we can bring in privately. You can pretty much triple the cost of US cars to figure out the cost here in Australia. I'm calling shenanigans on all car companies.
i dont see why so expencive
they do look ok
there are a few here in vanuatu and i had a good look over them in the states while i was there in 2007
nothing but a reskinned SWB prado same running gear and basic frame
the diesel will be a 4cl 1kd 4 sure if offered
they are not a hardcore thing at all only just better than a soft roader same league as prado
they should make a 4 coiled SWB V8 70 series now that would be cool
they have all the gear to do it bundy arse end etc
mayeb i should just make one for giggles
